Welcome to Downtown Eyes Vision Clinic in Medicine Hat, Alberta
Getting the right prescription for your eyeglasses or contact lenses is an important part of good eye care. But seeing clearly is just one part of your overall eye health. It’s important to have regular eye exams with an optometrist whether or not you wear eyeglasses or contacts, and even if your vision seems clear and sharp.
At Downtown Eyes Vision Clinic, we believe in looking at the big picture when it comes to your eye health, so we take the time to get to know you, your eye care history and your vision needs. Dr. DOUG HOWES knows that getting the right prescription involves balancing several factors, including clear eyesight, visual efficiency and your ability to process visual information seamlessly. Whether you need a routine eye examination, an eyeglasses fitting or treatment for eye disease (such as glaucoma or macular degeneration) or eye surgery (such as LASIK or cataract surgery), Dr. DOUG HOWES will provide you with the best care, advice, options and follow up.
Dr. DOUG HOWES has been serving Medicine Hat, Alberta, and area for more than 30 years. Schedule an appointment to see how we can help you get the best prescription for your eyes.

We examine the surface of the eye under a microscope to look at the quantity and the quality of the tear film. Additionally, we examine the eyelids and the glands inside the eyelids to insure they are healthy. More about Dry Eyes...

Of course – stay hydrated and making sure you consume enough water each day. Additionally, take breaks from your computer and smart phone. I recommend the 20/20/20 Rule – take a 20 second break every 20 minutes and look 20 feet away and blink your eyes. Finally, wearing sunglasses is critical to protecting the surface of the eye and the eyelids from UV exposure. More about Dry Eyes...
